Graduation

This post deserves more attention than I am giving it, but I've got a lot of catching up to do, so this will have to suffice. It was almost a month ago that Nate graduated from the Nellis Family Medicine Residency. We are all so proud of him. Education is a long, hard road, and in the medicine field, it will really never end. I think Nate will always be studying, working on research, and advancing his knowledge. It will be motivation for me to continue to learn all my life as well I guess. :)

These important milestones usually bring family to town, and I love that. It was a special treat to have his mom, Tim, and Grandpa and Grandma Christiansen here for several days. We made some great memories with them while they were here.

Graduation morning was a hot one. The whole weekend had temperatures above 110. I had someone watch the kids while we attended the ceremony, and I'm glad I could concentrate and enjoy it without the stress of the kids behaving. I did hate asking someone to watch them at 7:30 in the morning! Nate received the Lt General Bruce Green Award for "superior performance in the arenas of clinical competency, professionalism, leadership, mentoring, community involvement, and scholarly activity." So very proud of him.

This is Nate with Dr. Jon Jackson. Dr. Jackson was his team chief and mentor in all things clinical, military, and life in general. He is a sports medicine physician and was extremely helpful to Nate as he got started on his career path in sports medicine. Notice the optical illusion...who's arm is in the middle??? Nate says he was Dr. Jackson's left hand man, hehehe.

It was so nice to have Steve and Jody stay at the house while they were in town for the graduation. Steve worked who knows how many hours on this incredible gift for Nate: a carving of a couple Golden-winged Warblers. I'm so happy to say it made the cross country move without being damaged!

There was a banquet dinner the night of graduation. I will miss this Katie Johnson very much. Her daughter Paisley and my Natalie are cut from the same mold and were the greatest friends.

That is just wonderful and such a huge accomplishment. It is for you as well. I'm so glad family got to come to town to see it and help celebrate and can I just say Jess, you always look stunning?!?! I hope the move went smoothly and you are settling in nicely.
