I Just Cried a Tiny Bit

So Jansen and I went to Disney on Ice with the Julia and Annie this past Thursday. There were a couple times when I started crying just a little. I don't know!? All that Disney magic is real I guess? Sometimes I think I am one of those girls who doesn't cry much, I want to be in CONTROL of myself, but then I remembered that I also cried recently just reading an email informing about a baptism in the ward and also cried a few days ago when Nate called to say he was going to be late getting home that night. Maybe I'm not so strong.

I also realized on this magical night what a shame it is that my children have not seen Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Toy Story, Aladdin, the pitifulness could go on forever. Maybe I am not the only bad mom who feels the guilt because I promptly went home and reserved The Lion King at the library but I am like number 112 on the reserve list. I also imported all my Disney CDs onto Itunes. I'm on way to redeeming myself.
Aren't they the cutest things on two legs?

Annie and I had such a good time watching the kids' reactions and eating our Skittles/Milk Duds/PB M&Ms/Swedish Fish.

Peanut Butter Boredom Buster

Many of you have probably already done this, but it was our first time so I thought I would share the recipe.
It's edible peanut butter playdough:

- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 cups powdered sugar

Just mix the ingredients in a bowl.

Yes, it was kind of messy.
No, they didn't spend hours playing with it.
Yes, it kind of grossed me out to have them eat something they played with like that.
But it was something different...we had fun.

Grandpa Came Again

Who knew one man could bring such excitement and happiness into a home?

Nate's dad swooped in for another real quick visit (about 36 hours)...Jansen and Natalie were so thrilled. Grandpa, Nate, and Jansen talked trains, rocks, bullets, hikes, and birds for hours. We're so excited to live closer to family in a few months and be able to spend time like this together more often.

Note: Jansen has his pajamas on inside out "because his favorite color is white."
Embarrassing moment of the week: We were at a Blue and Gold Banquet held in the gym of the church last week and during dinner Jansen went up on the stage and called to me as I devoured dinner, "Don't eat too many plates of food mom!"

I Want to Blog

I really do.

There's just not a lot of subject matter.

We did go sledding awhile ago. We spent as much time getting our clothes on as we did sledding, but it was a blast. The wind hindered Jansen's experience, but he'll be back for more on another day I think.

I love sledding myself. We had one of these growing up and man that thing could FLY! I wouldn't let my kids on it without a helmet I don't think.

Needless to Say...

...he enjoyed his "Chocolate Lover's Trio" ice cream.

I'll be interested to see if he tries this look again in 15 years when he has facial hair.

Our Artisan

Here he is. He's taking after his father and loves to draw...ESPECIALLY and almost exclusively trains.

I wanted to get a picture of this pile of stuff that is always on the coffee table or strewn throughout the house. It's a perfect representation of Jansen's interests right now.
I think Nate outlined the top one for him...

Not an appreciation of art: Jansen recently used a pen and drew a train on one of the walls in his room. He said Natalie did it.

Wintry Weekend

Here are some photos of our wintry weekend:

Ever tried pushing a grocery cart through a snow covered parking lot? It is impossible.

Nightlife

This here is the extent of our nightlife. It's called the nightwalk. Nate bundles up the kids, throws in a few blankets, and with hot chocolate in hand, they go for a nightwalk around the neighborhood. Jansen and Natalie just love it.

How Much is That Doggie in the Window?

I might scream if I have to go to the "pet store" and pick out dogs one more time.

I'll be working on something in the kitchen and then I hear, "There's a dog waiting for you at the pet store! It has a tag on it that says JESSICA NYE!" This means Jansen has crawled under the rocking chair and that Natalie has caught wind of what is going on and has crawled under the coffee table.

I must then walk around the living room pointing out all the dogs I don't want and why until I stumble upon these two treasures. We do this every day. But really...I know someday I'll miss playing pet store and that's why I'm blogging about it. But maybe I could just have one day off???
