Natalie's Echocardiogram

Natalie's echocardiogram appointment was this morning. I was worried about how she would react because a paper I received in the mail said, "Any patient unable to cooperate for the study will be referred back to the attending physician." I was pretty sure that just might be my Natalie. But she did suprisingly well...thanks to her bottle, a Baby Einstein movie, her entertaining dad, focused mother, her bear, and a few other things. She certainly didn't like it, but we got the job done.
Getting weighed...the wariness begins.
The echo

She loved that ball of lights to the right of us. Some smart person that knows kids must have thought of that.
Going home
What we found out: The techs performing the echo aren't allowed to say anything, but Nate was watching closely and spotted what he commented looked like an ASD. The tech replied, "You said it, not me." So, we don't know the actual results because my pediatrician will be contacting me with those, but it looks like she may have an ASD (atrial septal defect). I read a little bit about it here and here. I am anxious to hear from the doctor and be able to talk to him.

So, I'm curious. Have you noticed anything unusual about Natalie's health, or why did you decide to have this test done? If she does have an ASD, what does that mean for her?

Oh Natalie. I am proud of you for doing so well at the doctor's. Let's hope everything gets cleared up quickly and easily. You'll be in our prayers.

I hate waiting to "hear" from the doctor. That equals stress. Natalie is such a sweet healthy little girl and look at how well she did. What a trooper. I love that picture of her drinking her bottle and you rubbing her little head. That's definitely what mommies are for.

I had no idea that Natalie might have a health issue. What a relief that she did well at her exam! I'll be praying for good news from the doctor.

Gosh, that brakes my heart to see her laying on that little table with stuff on her chest. That is a moms worst nightmare! That is crazy that your hubby can pick it out. That must be nice. You look like you are doing amazing! You are my insiration!

I'm SO glad that Nate could go with you and that Natalie did so well! She looks so cute in all of these pictures. Hope you get to talk to the doctor soon so you can get some answers. Just plan on me watching Jansen if you ever have to go back in! :)

I dropped everything and read all about it. I'm very anxious to hear what the doctor says. I will check your blog 20 times a day until I get an update:). Good luck!

So, the big question is...what does this mean? Do I need to be panicked?

I don't think that we would be able to do that test. really. I can't believe natalie did so well. Zeb would be FREAKING out. we would be the ones referred back to our physician for sure. I'm sure everything will work out for the best- keep us posted.
