Smart, Very Smart

I found this as I was getting out the Halloween decorations this morning:

A rotted pumpkin. I made this funny little spider last year and then stored it away, not realizing it would spoil and grow all sorts of terribly scary things all over it. Duh! Reminds me of the time we went to Utah for a couple weeks over Christmas Break and unplugged our fridge (to save LOTS of money!) with most of the food still in it and meat in the freezer. You should have smelled our apartment when we got home. To make a long story short, we had to get a new fridge. I think that is THE dumbest thing Nate and I have ever done. Kiki, in regards to the fridge incident, you aren't allowed to comment on this post.

I'm not sure I've ever heard that fridge story! I love it! Can I just say that I think the spider pumpkin is even MORE scary now that he is covered in crud? You should keep him out for Halloween, and store him away again next year!

He looks even scarier, what if you painted over his "warts with black spray paint?

I bet the money you saved by unplugging it was totally worth it. What does perishable mean exactly?

That fridge story is a classic. Never heard it before, but I got a great chuckle out of it today. Thanks for sharing.

The spider does look spookier . . .

you did NOT do that! I am still giggling. wow, jess. I do, however, love the spider and also think that you should keep him around.

haha...guess what, I think that my Jantsen made one of those last year and I really think that we stored it away too...thanks for drawing it to my attention. I better pull out my halloween decorations and see the mess we might have. haha...great idea on the fridge.

i told my cousin that story and she thinks that you were supposed to turn it off, that you guys were following the spirit. that maybe it was going to catch on fire while you were gone or something like that!

i don't know if i believe that totally, but maybe it will make you feel better...
