When It Rains...

I told Nate today that the thunderstorms out here make me think that the sky loses its temper or something. It will be a beautiful day, blue skies and innocent white clouds, and then it starts to darken and within minutes there's a downpour, crazy lightning, booming thunder, and hail. It's like the weather gods got really mad about something. And then they get over it. Not long after the "tantrum," peaceful skies return and all is calm again. We made the most of this pop up storm and let the kids run around in the rain and marvel at the thunder and lightning. Natalie had especially good time.

It may have been this very dance that brought the storm in the first place.

That's fun! I can't believe my little raindancer is going to be a year old this Friday. But on the other hand she seems almost like a two year old the way she acts. And Jansen almost 3! Gifts are in the mail! Wish I could be there. Love, mom

Zues: He is lord of the sky, the rain god. His weapon is a thunderbolt which he hurls at those who displease him. He is married to Hera but, is famous for his many affairs. He is also known to punish those that lie or break oaths.

Jess, you are so clever, I just LOVE reading your posts. I have another Uncle Greg memory for you, and this post made me remember it! I don't know if you were with us, but me and some friends were playing during a storm in a huge puddle that ended up at the end of 6th east. (By the Rawlings house), anyway your dad happened to drive by and swoosh, totally drenched us in the rain water! We were laughing and cheering, and he turned around and did it again! I was so proud to be saying "That's my uncle! Isn't he cool?!".

these are great pics! playing in the rain and jumping in puddles is one of my favorite childhood memories. growing up in Washington rain happened a lot, and mom didn't often let that stop us from playing outside (probably depended on the temperature). i always loved it!
