Ancraophobia

Jansen's first soccer game didn't go so well. The evil, evil wind was blowing about so Jansen would not play. He did not even step on the field. I know I have mentioned this many times on my blog, but for those who don't know, Jansen has a fear of the wind and of things blowing away. I feel really bad for him because he is so genuinely frightened...and frankly I was a very fearful/careful child myself so I can understand where he is coming from. I was deathly afraid of fireworks, earthquakes, my grandparent's boat tipping over, and more. He just wanted to go sit in the car and kept saying, "Things are going to blow away!" We have to start somewhere though and I am glad he is getting exposure to the sport and having fun when it's not windy. I just hope we never have a tornado here!

Down on the Farm

We had a fabulous time at the Slate Run Historical Farm on Thursday. I got us lost of course but it was not my fault...I guess Google doesn't have ALL the answers. But we made it, and as you can see, the kids enjoyed themselves. There WERE some really cute animals (baby pigs, sheep, etc.) but I have this thing about taking pictures...I won't take a picture unless there is a person in it...and there just weren't very many opportunities for that.

Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Little stinker is always sneaking up into Jansen's room and playing in his bed.
And then he joins her and mayhem ensues!

I've always had such a hard time getting my videos on blogger. But it's working now! I am very excited. Here's a random video posted amidst my excitement.

One of Those Moments

We were having Family Home Evening last week and I had to take a picture of this "moment." Nate was teaching Jansen about the Bible and Book of Mormon using the Gospel Art Book and Jansen could have sat there for an hour. He kept asking Nate to tell him more stories. This is not typical for our Family Home Evenings by the way! Anyway, I love this sweet picture of these two.

Easter Recap

Looking for his Easter basket...where is that darn thing?!

Found it! Of all places...the bathtub. Silly rabbit!

The lineup for the egg hunt:
Randomly inserted Easter morning picture. This is seriously the best one I could get of both of them...as Natalie is chucking a car down the stairs.
Jansen knew the shades would give him an advantage...and Natalie is wondering why she is in a skirt and a winter coat.

She was done after her first find.

And true to form, Jansen went and sat in the car while the rest of us visited and had dessert. It was too windy you know.

And Just Like That...

...she's gone! How is it possible that this weekend is over already?! We definitely packed in some fun outings along with a lot of relaxing, watching movies, creating, and being totally gluttonous. Speaking of eating naughty things...we went to this French bakery and got a box of deliciousness.

The kids have loved having Kami here. Today I told Jansen that we had to take Kami to the airport and he said, "But I want to keep her at my house!" Natalie has been quite the snuggle bug lately...and has been sucking her thumb. Yikes. Kinda cute, kinda want it to stop.
Easter basket treasures:
Of course we shopped!

Easter egg hunt (more on that to come)

Happy to Report

Actually, I am THRILLED to report that Jansen is potty trained. Number one and number two, going on his own without any pleading, getting undressed and dressed again without help, etc. What a long, stinky road that was! I'm so glad to have it behind me.

So I'm Wondering

So I'm wondering and trying to remember, did we DARE take pictures of kids on swings before digital cameras? Because it's super risky. You know, spending all that money on film and developing and then going and getting your prints and seeing that they all turned out like this:

Okay, this one is cute, but I keep wanting to reach out and wipe her nose. Guess I could have done that in real life.

I Can't Believe I Bought It

Ever since this stuff came out I have thought, "Are you kidding me? You are going to try and sell me juice with the water already added? I can dilute it myself thank you very much."
Natalie doesn't care too much for juice yet, but Jansen loves it and I still dilute it. He drinks a lot of OJ so when I saw this stuff on sale and I had a buy one get one free I decided to try it and give the OJ a break for a week or two. Now, it does boast:
No high fructose corn syrup added
No sugar added
No artificial sweeteners added
Only 80 calories per serving
And more water than other fruit juice brands
...but I still find this product totally ridiculous! Juice already diluted! As in, I am getting a container that is half full of water that I can get for free from my tap! Am I missing something here? I tasted it today and it tastes just like the watered down stuff I give my kids...which is not a very good taste. (Someday they will discover what juice can REALLY taste like.) Does anyone else feel like their intelligence is being insulted by being offered this product? (Which I totally bought.) Or like I said, are there benefits to this that I am not realizing?
