What's Your Liner?

I don't have anything to blog about today that is Jansen/Natalie related so I am forced to turn to this subject: shower curtain liners. I stocked up on some at the dollar store today (so far that is my chosen way of replacing them) but it got me wondering...does anyone out there love the kind of shower curtain liner they buy? I always get the cheapos and they do get yucky fairly quickly, but then I just replace them and I have a perfectly clean new one. Is it worth it to buy a more expensive one? I don't want to have to spray it down weekly or anything like that. Now let's all pray that the kids do something funny or cute later today so that my next blog is not so off-the-wall!!! (Although those are often my favorite ones to read.)

I've tried buying the nice ones that supposedly will never get yucky.. they get yucky. Don't believe a word they say. The cheaper ones seem to be the way to go

Were in Ohio and I think mold is something we are to deal with. Though I was talking about shower curtains this morning and I guess on the Today Show they said plastic ones can be bad and you should get the cloth like ones. I don't know, I'll have to look it up. I think the super cheap ones may mold a bit quicker, but then you just replace them. I'm with you. Stock up at the dollar store.

Well first off, thanks for letting me know they sell them at the dollar store! We got a fancy cloth one for our wedding and it got so moldy once we got to Ohio. So, now we have a plastic one. So far, so good, but it's only been a few months...

replacing it regularly (or not so regularly) is so much better than cleaning it. it's a buck and totally worth it. The plastic one lines the inside of our nicer one and the nicer one stays pretty nice as long as it stays out of the tub.

I agree that buying the cheap-o ones are the way to go, unfortunately I wasn't that smart to think of the dollar store to get one. $10 at walmart...but I do like the ones with metal around the little holes. My last one would tear out soon after I bought it. Anyways, enjoy a clean liner!

You can buy washable ones at Bed Bath & Beyond for around $10 - $12. I've had mine for 3+ years and wash them w/ bleach about once a month and they are good to go.

I've never actually tried these yet, but BB&B has zipper ones. I don't know if they stay any cleaner, but they zip off and on so they're alot easier and faster to wash (which is the whole point, I guess!)

I have the ones with the metal brads at the top and SWEAR BY THEM!! AS long as you shut the curtain after each use to let it air out you don't have to do ANYHING with it!! I have had ones that I have put in the washer with bleach too.. another good way. I figure if you don't mind changing the dollar store ones.. than go for it!! But I love the metal, thick brad ones and I have used them in Ohio.. infact that is where I first learned there was such a thing!
