Just Adding a Little Excitement to My Day

Who says being a stay at home mom isn't exciting???
I walked into the garage yesterday while talking on my cell phone and Jansen followed me out and shut the door after us. While I was on the phone I tried to go back in the house, but the door was locked. And so were all the other doors to get into the house. And Natalie was inside taking her nap! I started to panic, but then realized I had opened the window in our bedroom a little bit that morning. THANK GOODNESS!
My friend's husband who also happens to be our hometeacher (for those who aren't familiar with that term here's the definition ) found a ladder and came to our rescue. He even brought his wife's camera (that was our idea) so that I could blog about this little experience.
Natalie was even still sleeping once we broke in. I am SO happy she was tucked away in her crib and not wandering around the house scared and alone and playing with naughty, dangerous things. It really all worked out about as perfect as it could.

I felt your panic when you said that little Natalie was in the house. I don't think it was mere chance that she was in her crib and safe when that happened! I love that you took pictures. You are such a good blogger. (I found the toothbrush divider at a dollar store, it's actually a silverware divider, but I thought it worked perfectly to divide the toothbrushes! I'm also happy to find out that someone else out there is recycling. I've begged everyone in my family to get recycling bins from the city and start, but they don't! Have they no love for the planet? No guilt about the future? Sheesh.)

Oh man! Stressful! And that is the reason I'm going to get my house key copied this weekend. I just know I'll lock myself out one of these days. WAY worse with a sleeping baby inside though!

Oh, the panic! I too felt baby panic today when a little kid opened the door and let Shannon out of the gym while I was exercising. It took me almost four minutes to find her in one of the open classrooms. So scary.
I'm so glad she was still asleep and Kyle could come help you.

When Audrey was two weeks old Julia locked the three of us in her room. By some miracle I had Bryan's cell phone. Unluckily, I locked the front door. Luckily I had given Cara a spare key in case of emergencies like this and after several attempts she answered her phone and rescued us. Let's just say that wasn't my best moment.

At least you can blame it on Jansen. I've done that to myself so many times. Once while I was 7 months pregnant and had to climb in the window with no ladder. Another time I had to pull our garbage can up to the house to climb on it so that I could reach the only window that wasn't locked!

I haven't done any locking myself out in years (knock on wood) but when I was a teenager I did it ALL the time. Car and house. Just ask my poor mother!

I'm so glad everything turned out alright!
