This happened before it got REALLY windy or I would have put it away, but I happened to look out the kitchen window and bye bye swimming pool. It was on its way to the pond. Luckily Nate was able to retrieve it.
Natalie had her appointment with the pediatric cardiologist this morning. It didn't go terribly well, mostly just because she was NOT happy about being poked and prodded. Because she was so upset they weren't able to hear well or get a very accurate EKG reading and now I have to take her to Children's Hospital and have an ultrasound done. I was not happy with the doctor...he was one of those pediatricians that apparently only worked with robots during med school and residency because he acted a little annoyed and surprised that Natalie was so upset. He was asking me, "Is she always like this?" and "Do you have a toy for her?" Sure doc, let's hand her a rattle and I'm sure she'll quit screaming. She was very wary of him so every time he came back in the room she would start clinging to me. He did hear her heart a little bit after she calmed down and thought it sounded like a pretty harmless murmur, but we need to check it out because the EKG was abnormal. (Probably because of her tantrum.) Her next appointment will be in a couple weeks I think.

What a rude doctor! That is terrible! Oh, and YIKES to not having power all day. Did your frige stuff go bad? This morning out of the blue Kyle said, "I wanna call Jansen!" I forgot why we didn't call, but he was sure thinking about him this morning.
I love doctors like that - especially since I have kids that don't like being poked or prodded either! Next time give the kid a rattle so she can chuck it at the doctor!
The mid west is another story when it comes to weather and rain and storms and losing power and pretty much anything that never happens in Utah. I am glad that Nate rescued the pool. Pretty funny pictures though! and the doctor either doesn't have kids of their own, or never takes care of them or is just plan stupid.
I'm so sorry the EKG went poorly. Preston has a heart murmur (an ASD and three VSDs - Nate would know all about what those are I am sure) and we have been through the EKGs, the ultrasounds, etc. I know exactly how you feel. The ultrasound was a lot easier to deal with though, and they are very accurate. The doctor was able to see the ASD and the VSDs but with the EKG you are just checking to make sure things are normal but since the doc heard the murmur anyway you want to know what the source is. Don't know why they didn't just start with the ultrasound! But yeah having a toy or a bottle helps a lot. It really is a minor thing though. Preston just saw the "pedi-cardi" two months ago and he doesn't have to go in again until he is 4 because it is so minor and isn't affecting anything (but it is still there). But at the beginning, the doctors were all acting like it was a very dire thing and it freaked me out too. So don't let them do that to you! It looks like she is totally thriving so I am sure it is very minor.
Good luck! =)
so sorry about the doctor's office trauma. Zeb freaks when we pull up to the doctor's office because he knows what's going to happen. fortunately for us his screams are normally helpful-the harder he cries the more his lungs fill with air and the docs can get good readings/x-rays :) good luck and if you find a solution let me know. Oh, and I can't believe you were without power for that long! I would have been an unhappy camper.
I believe bedside manner is a very close second to skill when it comes to doctors, especially pediatricians! Also, I loved your picture of the runaway pool! I would be a big baby if the electricity was off. I eat from the microwave, watch TV, vacuum, etc. These are my daily activities. That would all have to change if electricity goes out...maybe I need to have Shane get us a generator, just in case...
I'm sorry you had to do all that. They found a "nodule" on my baby's lung when she had pnemonia last fall, so for 4 months we were seeing all sorts of different specialists. They made her get an MRI. An EKG is nothing!!! She had that too by the way. At least she didn't have to go in a white tube and hold still for 10 minutes. I almost fainted when they told me they might have to put her under if she didn't hold still. Next time make sure she's really hungry and take a bottle. Let her suck on it while they poke and prod her. Good luck, and I hope it's nothing.
oh I hope she's okay...you'll have to update me. Your opinion of the dr. is funny bc I had the weirdest dermatologist the other day...he is not a people person...I don't know how he has any patients.
